The Ghana Hydrological Authority (HYDRO), as the state institution, is responsible for the planning, design, execution, operation, and maintenance of flood control mechanisms, coastal engineering works, drainage improvement works, and operational and applied hydrology in the country.

The professional staff are Civil Engineers and Scientists with specializations in Coastal, Ports and harbor Engineering, Drainage and Sanitary Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Geodetic Engineering, and Quantity Surveying.
Our Services
The organization’s activities encompass the professional areas of Operational Hydrology, Drainage and Sewerage Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Land and Hydrographic Surveying, Quantity Surveying, General Administration, Finance, and Accounting.
Operational Hydrology
The Ghana Hydrological Authority (HYDRO) has over the years established various hydrological data observation and collection platforms across the country on major rivers and streams.
Drainage Engineering
The Ghana Hydrological Authority (HYDRO) has over the years designed and supervised the construction of drainage works with emphasis on primary and secondary drains and flood control structures
Applied Hydrology
HYDRO is the lead establishment in the development and operation of a Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) for the White Volta River in Northern Ghana.
Coastal Engineering
The Ghana Hydrological Authority (HYDRO) has supervised the construction of various coastal protection projects across the country.
